This course offers an overview of characteristics, theory, and teaching applications for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and neurodiverse students. Discussion includes the major theories, teaching approaches, trends, etiological and diagnostic issues, classroom structure and environmental arrangement, research based instructional strategies, and family involvement. PREREQ: SPECED 205 AND (SPECIAL EDUCATION MAJOR/MINOR OR PHYSICAL EDUCATION EC-A OR FAMILY, HEALTH, & DISABILITY STUDIES MINOR)
