Psychology of Reading Instruction

Catalog description

An advanced course in the teaching of reading that examines the fundamental nature of the reading process and the causes of difficulty in learning to read, based upon the science of reading. Course content examines reading difficulties including culturally and linguistically diverse perspectives in the diagnosis and implementation of instruction. An examination of current issues in teaching children to read based upon recent research in cognitive science.
