3 credit hours Lecture Hours: 3; Lab Hours: 0 Discussion of the Food Pyramid, essential nutrients, and the importance of meeting nutritional needs throughout the life cycle when planning menus. The goal of this course is to understand the science of how nutrients in food are ingested, digested, absorbed, transported and utilized to build and maintain the body.
