Organizational Behavior: Understanding People at Work

Catalog description

This course provides an overview of theories, concepts, and research findings that help us understand the behavior of individuals and groups in work organizations. Topics covered include a brief history of organizational behavior (OB), research methods in OB, evidence-based management, individual attributes (e.g., personality, values, abilities), workforce diversity (including diversity, equity, and inclusion), worker motivation, decision making, stress, conflict, managing work-life boundaries, power dynamics, leadership, team dynamics, organizational structure, organizational culture, green sustainable behavior, and organizational change. At the end of the course, students will be able to use organizational behavior concepts and theories to diagnose common managerial and organizational problems and will be able to articulate insights into their own behavior and leadership style. This is a required course for the human resource management major and leadership and teams minor.
