Catalog description

Most of us have some awareness of the ways in which compensation for regular rank and file employees is determined, yet compensation for the top executives at the publicly traded companies is not as widely understood. This course offers a foundational overview of the process that shapes executive compensation and the components of executive pay packages in publicly traded corporations. You'll start by exploring the context of executive compensation to understand how and why it is set up the way it is. You'll then consider the various constituents, identifying what each party seeks to gain through the process and how much influence they are able to wield over the outcome. Finally, you'll examine the tools of executive compensation, including the components that go into creating a total compensation package for the top leaders.
