Prototyping Lab II: Environments
Carnegie Mellon University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
In this lab, you'll experiment with ways that designers can craft spaces through collective, time-based, and distributed interactions. You will learn how to: represent environments using digital drawing tools, fabricate environments using computer-controlled machines, connect environments using code and electronics, and activate environments using motion tracking and gaming platforms. You will learn how to use these technologies but also-and more importantly-how to self-learn and problem-solve as current tools evolve and new ones emerge. In other words, through this course, you will become a maker with both the skills and mindset to help you succeed in your academic and professional careers in the years to come. Prerequisite: 51-267
