Media Compositions
Brown University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Media Compositions is a graduate practicum focused on generating, workshopping, revising, supporting, and finishing writing in forms relevant to media scholarship, teaching, and professionalization. Participants will set and propose scaffolding toward their own specific writing goals for the semester. As a collective, we’ll analyze our own works-in-progress as well as examples published by scholars at various career stages for a range of audiences, from SCMS student writing awardees to public-facing arts criticism. Designed with the isolation of dissertation writing in mind, this course is intended to serve as a space of community as well as productivity and intellectual development.
