Catalog description
This is the second course in a series of four courses in the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL) used by the Deaf community, including basic vocabulary, syntax, numbers, fingerspelling, and grammatical non-manual markers. The instructional activities are based on an immersion approach, in which the students develop language competency in source and target language, cultural knowledge, and an increased understanding of the Deaf community. Students are expected to participate in Deaf community events and read instructions in English. Prerequisite: SIGN-1 Other: It is recommended that students co-enroll in ASL 61 (Fingerspelling and Numbers 1) if they have not already taken it.
