Catalog description

This course consists of individualized study of composition and music arranging techniques through private and small group instruction. The emphasis is on the progressive development of skills needed to create transcriptions, arrangements and original compositions including proper notation. Students whose concentration is Composition also need to take Applied Skills in an instrument or voice to prepare for transfer auditions. Repeatable: May be repeated three times. Entrance Skills: Audition required. Students may add the course but may be dropped if they do not meet the skill level. Advisory: Concurrent participation in an appropriate ensemble and enrollment in appropriate-level major preparation courses in MUS1A-2E sequence.
