Catalog description
An introduction to biology for majors that emphasizes cellular and molecular processes in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Topics include biological molecules, cell structure, cell communication, metabolism (enzymes, respiration, fermentation, and photosynthesis), cell reproduction, heredity, molecular genetics, and evolution. This course emphasizes the scientific method and experimental design. Advisory: Background in high school biology is recommended. Prerequisite: Intermediate algebra or equivalent through the college placement process.
