Catalog description
This course is an introduction to ceramics materials, concepts, tools, and processes. Students are introduced to basic design principles and creative development in hand building, throwing on potter's wheel, glazing techniques, firing techniques and other surface treatments. Students are informed by the historical and contemporary uses of the ceramic medium across cultures to develop their personal ideas and a sense of the context from which their work emerges. Grades are Pass/No Pass option.
