Catalog description
This advanced clinical skills laboratory and practicum course provides students with extensive supervised practice in ophthalmic clinical skills and patient care. Students refine and demonstrate competency in skills introduced in Clinical Skills Lab I and II and expand proficiency in retinoscopy and refraction-related procedures. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, efficiency, professional behavior, patient communication, and integration of skills into real clinical workflows. Clinical practicum hours provide immersive patient-based experience in approved ophthalmic settings. This course serves as a capstone clinical experience, preparing students for entry-level employment as ophthalmic technicians. 2 credit hours; 240 clinical contact hours.
