Catalog description
This course provides continued development of ophthalmic clinical skills through a combination of lecture instruction, supervised laboratory practice, and structured clinical practicum experiences. Students refine skills introduced in Clinical Skills Lab I and expand competency in tonometry, lensometry, phoropter setup, and selected supplemental ophthalmic tests. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, patient safety, professional behavior, and integration of skills into real clinical workflows. Clinical practicum hours provide supervised patient interaction in approved clinical settings. This course represents the student’s initial formal clinical placement and prepares them for advanced clinical coursework. Additional Information: Courses must be taken in the prescribed sequence as part of a cohort. Students progress through the certificate together, and courses are not available out of sequence. 2 credit hours; 96 clinical contact hours.
