This course provides an integrative, family-centered approach to the care of mothers and newborns. Emphasis is placed on normal and high-risk pregnancies, normal growth and development, family dynamics and the promotion of healthy behaviors in patients. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to mothers and newborns in selected settings. This course provides an integrative, family-centered approach to the care of infants, children and adolescents. Emphasis is placed on normal growth and development, family dynamics, common pediatric disorders and the promotion of healthy behaviors in patients and families. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to infants, children and adolescents in a variety of settings. There is 3 hours of lecture and 6 hours of clinical each week. Prereq.: C or better in NURS 3799 , NURS 3798 and 3798L , NURS 3797C and NURS 3797L . Coreq.: NURS 3796L .
