Catalog description

Theoretical and practical study of metal casting science and technology. Concepts and principles learned through integrated lecture and laboratory experiences. Lectures focus on the primary manufacturing steps for producing castings. Laboratory work uses foundry laboratory facilities for hands-on casting process work and solidification/flow modeling with simulation software. Students perform casting projects in lab and work in teams to develop gating and risering systems for metal castings. Prereq.: MET 2630 . Coreq.: MET 3750L .
