Physics of turbulence in thermal-fluid engineering systems; statistical descriptions, energy cascade and scales of turbulent motion. Modeling and simulation of turbulent flows. Examples of turbulence in mixing layers, combustion, and wall-bounded flows. Prereq.: MECH 3720 or PHYS 3705 or CHEN 3786 (or equivalent).
