Catalog description
This course covers the gut microbial communities and their interactions with the enteric and central nervous systems of humans and other animal hosts. Through its interactions with the nervous system, the gut microbiome influences the emotional and cognitive centers of the brain, which in turn may affect mental health, response to stress, and other nervous system disorders. This course explores these topics based on the scientific literature, discussions, and presentations. Prereq.: BIOL 6909 .
