How to Study Aggadah

Catalog description

This course will explore foundational questions of life and society through the lens of the Talmud. Throughout the semester we will approach each Tractate within the Talmud with a broad birds-eye view to understand the essential themes that emerge from the text. A general introduction to the nature of the Talmud and its underlying purpose will be provided as well. Topics such as romance, marriage, conversion, Shabbos, crisis management, and the Jewish holidays will each be explored with an emphasis on understanding how each subject continues to inform our daily lives.
