Catalog description

This course delves into theories and interventions for the advanced family systems or group practitioner. It explores the psychological dynamics of family life taking into consideration the developmental life cycle of families, premises held therein, intergenerational transmission of communication and behavior patterns, individual and collective identities, strengths, challenges, traumas, and more. This course explores how common issues and challenges such as loss (both understood and ambiguous), illness, alcoholism, substance abuse, and domestic violence influence family dynamics. Extensive theories, interventions, and techniques are studied and practiced in this course. Restriction(s): For DSW students only.
