Catalog description

This course examines public policy and the phases of public policymaking as a dynamic and value-laden process of social change integral to social work. Areas of knowledge and skill-building include framing social problems in their full complexity and with attention to the experience of diverse populations; identifying policies at federal, state, and local levels of government and evaluating federal-state dynamics and conflicts; and mastering the art of policy analysis and advocacy, including consideration of the roles of financing and delivery systems, as well as the diverse social and cultural contexts in which analysis and advocacy happen.
