Catalog description

This course explores the intersectionality of motherhood, the development of the motherhood identity experience, and the challenges present in the environmental, sociocultural, and family systems spheres. Students will deepen their understanding of the unique mental health challenges that can present in the perinatal period, such as Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, as well as clinical supports. The course will identify key features of matrescence, perinatal moods, management of symptoms and treatment options, infertility, and perinatal death through the lens of the postpartum experience, as well as macro and mezzo issues related to maternal mental health.
