Catalog description

This course builds upon the foundations courses. Students develop conceptual, practical, theoretical, and ethical frameworks that will inform their skills with individuals, families, and couples in social service agencies. Specific clinical practice theories are explored for their applicability to a refined assessment of client needs. Students formulate therapeutic interventions based on assessments that include an appreciation of the impact of social, political, and agency contexts; race and ethnicity; gender; sexual orientation; social class; cultural issues; and other factors, as well as assessment of values, ethics, and relevant practice research findings. Prerequisite(s): SWK 6004 , SWK 6100 , SWK 6135 , SWK 6201 , SWK 6402 and SWK 6532 ; and SWK 6132 may be taken as prerequisite or corequisite or SWK 6133 ; or ACC (advanced standing). Corequisite(s): SWK 6535 .
