Catalog description

This course is about the fundamentals of biophysics with a focus on protein physics and the collective behavior of macromolecules. When biological entities (such as proteins, DNA, and RNA) are studied from a biological perspective, the emphasis is rightly placed on the biological functions and the details of the intermolecular interactions that make such function possible. However, biological systems demonstrate a range of behaviors that do not depend on biological or chemical details, but rather on general physical principles. In this course, much emphasis will be placed on using such physical principles to describe the properties of biophysical systems.
