Catalog description

An advanced introduction to the theory and modeling of complex systems, exploring how collective behavior, nonlinear dynamics, and emergent phenomena arise in physical, biological, and social systems. Students will engage with foundational topics including phase transitions and critical phenomena, scaling laws, network theory, chaos and bifurcation theory, and statistical mechanics far from equilibrium, with an emphasis on analytical and computational methods drawn from modern physics.
