Catalog description
This course provides an introduction to both electronic circuits and signal processing. Topics in circuit analysis include voltage and current, circuit components, loop and nodal analysis, simplification methods, phasor analysis and impedance. Signal processing topics include characterization of analog and digital signals and systems in the time and frequency domains, and sampling. The course also covers characterization of diodes, bipolar and CMOS transistors, and circuits with ideal op-amps. Students work on design projects in an engineering laboratory involving analog electronics, ADCs and DACs. The project work is organized as a semester long task to design, build and test a complete working system, such as a radar or electronic musical instrument, and course work includes technical written and oral presentations. Prerequisite(s): MATH 1413 . Crosslisted with PHYS 2031 .
