Anatomy of an Appeal

Catalog description
This one-credit course will provide students with the opportunity to learn effective appellate advocacy techniques from a federal appellate judge. Students will evaluate and provide written critiques of briefs from active appellate cases. They will also attend oral arguments. These exercises will be supplemented by texts and written materials from judges and appellate practitioners. Students will also engage in oral arguments before Judge Greenaway. A requirement for the course is a trip to see oral arguments at the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia at a date to be determined by Judge Greenaway. Credit: 1. Prerequisite(s): LAW 7330 may be taken as a prerequisite or corequisite.
