Catalog description

For a select group of students, a one-credit service-learning program will follow this course. Students will help design and deliver a program for inmates in a nearby prison that will utilize a reentry circle process to help inmates connect with one another and to enable participants to use the conversational tools studied while in prison and also in their own family, work and community after reentry. In addition to the workings of a circle, participants will study and practice a variety of listening skills, the art of identifying interests and issues in compelling language, the practice of being mindful in the construction of conversational agendas, and how to generate collaboration and movement in conversations. Prerequisite(s): LAW 7180 may be taken as a prerequisite or corequisite.
