This seminar focuses on chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. We will discuss the reorganization from commencement of a case through confirmation of a plan of reorganization. Among the topics to be covered are first-day motions and orders, financing, the assumption or rejection of executory contracts, valuation, sales of assets, disclosure issues and issues concerning the plan confirmation process. There is no final examination for the course. Grading is based on a term paper as well as a heavy emphasis on class participation. Term paper topics are selected by students from a list provided in the beginning of the course, although custom topics may be approved by the professor.
