Jewish Values: Rewards & Punishments; Halachah & Theology
Yeshiva University · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
Judaism has rewards and punishments, a system that offers perhaps the best summary of the relative sources of divine pleasure or anger at our life choices. What should be most important in our lives? How would we rank the value of different mitzvot? What are the most important beliefs of Judaism? What is G-d-s system for evaluating the 613 mitzvot? This course uses Biblical sources, Talmudic concepts, philosophic and theological ideas of Maimonides as well as contemporary giants of Torah knowledge for a rarely taught and highly fascinating intellectual and spiritual journey.
