Catalog description

This course aims to provide a solid understanding of the opportunities, techniques, and critical challenges of using data mining and predictive analytics to inform managerial decisions. The focus is on codifying and translating business challenges into data science problems. The data science methodology will be discussed as necessary to understand the fundamental concepts, including prediction, clustering, and data modeling. Students will become conversant in data science and basic data science techniques. They will be ready to communicate with specialist data scientists using fundamental concepts and evaluate data science proposals from a business standpoint. Prerequisite(s): IDS 5420 .
