Catalog description

This preparatory course guides students through the initial stages of their Honors Thesis project. Students will meet with faculty to discuss academic interests, thesis expectations, and potential mentors. Following mentor assignment, students will conduct preliminary research, schedule a one-on-one library research consultation, develop advanced research strategies, and work closely with their faculty mentor to refine their topic. By the end of the semester, students will submit a formal proposal that describes their research question and approach, and includes a working title and a preliminary bibliography. This course establishes the foundation for sustained scholarly inquiry and prepares students for the intensive research and writing phases of the thesis process.
