Honors Thesis Research

Catalog description

This course marks the transition from proposal to active research and writing. In addition to networking with peers and learning about available resources, students will develop detailed outlines, expand their bibliographies, conduct primary research or data collection, and begin to execute their approved research plans in writing under the guidance of their faculty mentors. Through at least three required meetings with their faculty mentors and check-ins with the Honors Program faculty, students receive ongoing feedback and support. Students are encouraged to utilize Writing Center resources, including consultations with Honors Thesis Specialists. By the end of the semester, students will complete a preliminary draft of at least 2,000 words that demonstrates progress toward their research goals. This course builds research stamina, strengthens analytical writing skills, and prepares students for the final intensive writing phase of the thesis process. Prerequisite(s): HON 4905 may be taken as a prerequisite or corequisite.
