Bible Manuscripts from the Judean Desert

Catalog description

In the 20th century dozens of Bible and Bible-related manuscripts dating from the end of the Second Temple period were discovered at Qumran and other places in the Judean Desert. Through close readings of a selection of these manuscripts and in conversation with modern scholarship, students will explore the contribution of these finds to knowledge of the development of the text and canon of the Bible. The course will familiarize students with the best available tools for independent study of these manuscripts.
