Catalog description

This course provides students with an introduction to fundamental concepts and skills involved in evaluating and conducting social science research, as well as ethical issues surrounding social research. Students will gain basic insight into research methods through the process of conducting small research projects and developing a research proposal. Students will learn about the following methodologies: basic statistical manipulation of secondary data, survey methods, ethnographic observation, life history, focus group research, and evaluation research. Course is offered in conjunction with one credit Statistical Software lab course.
