Catalog description
This course introduces the student to western philosophy by focusing on the innovations of the modern age, roughly the period from the mid-17th to the early 19th century. Emphasis will be placed on the philosophical movements known as Rationalism, Empiricism, and Idealism. The goals of this course include improving the student's capacity for critical reading, writing, and thinking. May be taken either as an Introductory Course or an Upper Level Course.
