CHIN 1020 is the second of the two courses that are designed to introduce students to modern Mandarin Chinese. It also aims to consolidate students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through enhanced understanding and application of the grammar, vocabulary, structures, and functions of the Chinese language. Students who have successfully completed CHIN 1020 will be able to recognize and write about 240 Chinese characters/phrases, further develop fundamental language skills, apply their Chinese skills in a communicative context, and increase their understanding of the Chinese culture and society.
