Survey of the history of Africa within a global perspective. Course themes include early kingdoms in North Africa, the early influence of Christianity and Islam on African societies, Africa's early contacts with Europeans, and the eras of the Atlantic Slave trade, colonialism, nationalism, and contemporary Africa.
