Gender, Identity, and Theology

This course offers an introduction to the conversation between \201Cfeminist theory\201D and theology. Students unpack women\2019s voices and influence throughout the history of Christianity, focusing on the modern conversation of feminist theology including proto-feminist theologians, early feminist theologians of the 1970\2019s and 80\2019s, and intersectional feminists theologians who look at race, class, and sexual orientation in addition to gender. This course examines major theological themes\2014as well as current global issues of social justice\2014and how feminist theory helps to shape our theological exploration and response.
