Catalog description
This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to examine major topics related to Colombian society through the lens of diverse perspectives, social justice and social and environmental responsibility. By leveraging virtual sessions with Colombian students and interactions with Colombians during the in-country immersion, students will further develop their overall language proficiency and intercultural communicative competence through observation, fieldwork and field notes, investigation, interactions, interviews and reflection. The integration of language and culture throughout each class session supports students to experience, analyze and interpret culture and language during their in-country immersion in Colombia. This course is taught in Spanish and fulfills an upper-level Spanish requirement for a major or minor in Spanish. Prerequisites: SPAN300 or SPAN301 College of Arts & Sciences Classics & Modern Languages
