Catalog description

This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to examine major topics related to Latin American society and culture through linguistic expressions, legends, short stories and other texts. Latin American Spanish is rich with linguistic expressions linked to specific cultural practices, products and perspectives. By leveraging interactions with Latin Americans during in-country immersion, students will investigate the multitude of unique regional expressions. Furthermore, students will utilize a variety of text types, including legends and short stories, to interpret the variety of cultural perspectives tied to specific site visits. The integration of language and culture throughout each class session supports students to experience, analyze and interpret culture and language during their in-country immersion. This course is taught in Spanish. Prerequisites: SPAN300 or SPAN301 or Placement - Spanish 300 Course Attributes: Humanities Elect/Integrations College of Arts & Sciences Classics & Modern Languages
