Catalog description

Material covered in this course includes historical and current perspectives on drug addiction. Basic pharmacology and neuroanatomy will be reviewed. Current empirical understanding of the nature and effects of stimulants, nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, depressants, opiates, marijuana, hallucinogens and psychiatric drugs will be covered. Additionally, students will be exposed to current controversies regarding drugs, drug regulation and drug use prevention. Prerequisites: PSYC221 College of Health and Human Sciences School of Psychology
