Environmental Politics

Catalog description

Examination of the links between environment, political conflict and economic and political development. Challenges to a status quo and efforts to address problems in developing areas often framed in terms of “justice.” Theoretical material for the course will be drawn primarily from the literatures on institutions and the international political economy of development. References will be made to case studies from the Middle East, South Asia and other contemporary and historical cases. This course serves the Economics, Sustainability and Society major as well as the Peace and Justice Studies minor.
