Catalog description

This course serves as a capstone course for the physics major. Emphasis is placed on applying concepts and principles of classical and modern physics developed throughout the major toward an analysis of structural, thermal, electrical, and magnetic properties of matter in solid state. Topics include crystallography, specific heat, phonons, band theory, Fermi surfaces, and uperconductivity . Prerequisites: PHYS340 College of Arts & Sciences Physics & Engineering
