Catalog description
This course develops advanced assessment and clinical reasoning skills essential for nurse practitioner practice. Building on foundational pathophysiologic knowledge, students learn to perform comprehensive and focused health assessments across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on accurate history-taking, advanced physical examination techniques, and the interpretation of normal and abnormal findings within the context of developmental and cultural considerations. Students will apply evidence-based frameworks to organize assessment data and construct preliminary problem lists that support diagnostic reasoning. Virtual patient encounters and case-based learning experiences cultivate advanced clinical insight, promote safe and effective assessment practices, and foster a holistic understanding of the patient. Prerequisites: NURS680 Restrictions: Must be enrolled in one of the following Levels: Graduate College of Nursing Nursing
