Catalog description
This graduate-level course provides an in-depth exploration of the normal and abnormal physiological processes that form the foundation of advanced nursing practice. Emphasizing cellular biology, genetics, immunology, and multisystem interactions, the course examines the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, and progression of common and complex health conditions across the adult lifespan. Students analyze alterations in homeostasis and apply mechanistic understanding to clinical case scenarios that support the development of diagnostic reasoning. Through integration of current research and evidence-based concepts, learners build the advanced physiologic framework required for safe, accurate assessment and informed clinical decision-making in the nurse practitioner role. Restrictions: Must be enrolled in one of the following Levels: Graduate College of Nursing Nursing
