Exercise Science Practicum

Catalog description
A planned, supervised, and approved exercise science-related learning experience. Students must complete a total of 400 clock hours (6 credit hours), which may be divided into 1 \2013 6 credit hour blocks, to meet the program requirement. Students must become certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) prior to starting their practicum. This course will provide students with the opportunity to gain experience, practical skills, and to learn from a mentor in preparation for their future career in exercise science. Students choose an approved internship site, which includes an area of exercise science (i.e., physical and occupational therapy clinics, local hospitals, exercise physiology laboratories, sports performance and athletic training programs, public health programs, research projects, etc.) and will be under the direction of a site mentor to develop their expertise in a particular field of study. Prerequisites: EXSC 320 with at least a \201CC\201D and 3 credit hours of EXSC Elective.
