Queer Literature

Catalog description

This course focuses on literature in three major categories: works by authors who are part of the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer (lgbtq) community, works that depict characters from and themes related to the lgbtq community, and works that have been read as queer and/or have served as rallying cries for lgbtq audiences. Texts may reflect a variety of genres (novels, plays, short stories, poetry, and film, as well as queer-theory analysis) and may cover multiple time periods (classical, medieval, modern, and post-modern). This course will include a research assignment. Students are strongly encouraged to complete ENGL 210 Methods Workshop and/or ENGL 205: Lit & the Moral Imagination or equivalent before enrolling.
