This course provides a foundational understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), a framework designed to address the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students. This course provides an understanding of the systemic nature of managing behavior and academics within the multi-tiered framework. This framework encompasses many preventative strategies and systems that have been shown to encourage engagement and prevent disruptive behaviors. The focus is specifically on Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports and the effects of this system on other classroom systems, student behavior, and student learning. Effective lesson planning, intervention, and assessment techniques aligning with the tiered support systems will be covered. 10 field hours are required. Restrictions: Must be enrolled in one of the following Levels: Graduate College of Health and Human Sciences School of Education
