Catalog description

This course will explore concepts in the field of addictions with special emphasis on the context of the relationships associated with the person with an addiction. The primary goals for this course is to deepen students\2019 understanding of the impact of family dynamics and significant relationship considerations during treatment. Building addiction counseling competencies related to developing and implementing effective family related education and counseling services associated with positive treatment outcomes will be primary. Special emphasis will be placed on appropriate ethical codes and laws associated within the scope of practice. Restrictions: Must be enrolled in one of the following Levels: Graduate College of Health and Human Sciences Counseling
