Functional Neuroscience

Catalog description

In this course, students gain a working knowledge of the anatomy of the nervous system, including regions of the brain, brain stem, and spinal cord, as well as the structure of spinal and cranial nerves. The anatomy is then linked with its specific function, followed by an integration of multiple regions for a broader systemic understanding. Sensory and motor systems are covered in detail, followed by the autonomic nervous system, limbic function and memory, and the special senses. Relevant pathological conditions and current topics are woven throughout the class as well, to help connect basic science with clinical considerations. College of Arts & Sciences Biology
